CONTRA was created by the team behind parkrun, with the ambition to provide an inclusive, encouraging sportswear brand for all, that helped to keep parkrun free forever.
parkrun is a series of free, weekly, community-led, physical activity opportunities in 21 countries around the world, supported by the profits from CONTRA sportswear.
Paul-Sinton-Hewitt had the brilliant idea of starting up parkrun in 2004 (then known as Bushy Park Time Trial) as a way of keeping in touch with his friends whilst injured and unable to run. It turned out that people craved the opportunity to be physically active, spend time outdoors and socialise with others.
After a few years, events were established in other parks around the UK, and now, the simple concept has expanded to include nearly 2,000 locations around the world.
parkrun events are all organised by local volunteers and free to all participants. The 5km Saturday events (and 2km Sunday events for juniors) offer a regular, pressure-free, fun, supportive and inclusive opportunity for the whole community to be physically active.
